Photographs of Turbinicarpus species belonging to the Lophophoroides aggregate

The vast majority of the plants pictured here were acquired from the specialist Turbinicarpus nursery of Paolino Panarotto. If you are interested in the genus Turbinicarpus, including Gymnocactus, I cannot praise the service and quality of plants of this nursery highly enough. There are also a few interesting forms, which are not found anywhere else, originating from another excellent source of plants and literature, Whitestone Gardens.

This plant is approximately 4cm Ø x 3cm high. The way in which the fruits open by a longitudinal split is clearly visible.

The flowers are approximately 2.0cm Ø and are slightly darker coloured than the type. The reddish body coloration is also typical for this form.

The way in which most Turbinicarpus fruits dehisce by a longitudinal split is clearly visible in this picture. The plant is approximately 3.5cm Ø x 1.5cm high and is the same as the previous one but has been given some water at the beginning of the year
