Photographs of Turbinicarpus species belonging to the Pseudomacrochele aggregate

The vast majority of the plants pictured here were acquired from the specialist Turbinicarpus nursery of Paolino Panarotto. If you are interested in the genus Turbinicarpus, including Gymnocactus, I cannot praise the service and quality of plants of this nursery highly enough. There are also a few interesting forms, which are not found anywhere else, originating from another excellent source of plants and literature, Whitestone Gardens.

The flowers are approximately 2cm Ø. The reddish midstripe of the outer perianth segments seems to be characteristic of this species.

This plant is approximately 3cm Ø x 4cm high, the individual stems are about 7mm Ø. The different forms of spination are due to the plant being relocated in a more sunny position.

The flowers are approximately 2cm Ø. This plant is sold as "T. krainzianus 'roseoflorus'" and is identical with T. pseudomacrochele var. sphacellatus which is only a pale flowered form of T. pseudomacrochele ssp. lausseri.
