Description of Turbinicarpus valdezianus var. albiflorus

Pazout, Kaktusy, 129-130, 1960

The variety differs from the type by the larger body, with more loosely packed tubercles and yellowish spination. The flowers develop from greenish to brownish buds. The outer perianth segments are light greenish to brownish, on the inside whitish to yellowish, the inner perianth segments are pure white. Filaments white, anthers yellow, stigma white.

Notes

The citation refers to a book and not the Czech cactus journal of the same name. According to Glass and Foster, this white flowered form is more common than the type. The areoles are noticeably more yellow than in the type, this is the best way of differentiating the two forms when not in flower.
