Body somewhat depressed-globular, simple, occasionally offsetting, dichotomy
also observed, to 3 cm high and 4 cm broad, not protruding through the
spination, apex with some white wool. Tubercles to 1 cm broad and 6 mm high,
expanded laterally at the base, arranged in flat spirals, matt bright grey to
brown-green; Areoles on the tip of the tubercle, with a little wool, soon
becoming bare. Spines 3, at the lower margin of the areole, the lowest the
longest, at most 9 mm long, the 2 smaller upper spines generally falling off,
all round above, flattened below, curved towards the apex, grey with dark tip,
rather soft, with transverse fissures. Flowers from the apex ca. 14 mm long and
broad, inside almost white, outside with darker mid stripe. Fruit a minute berry
with a wooly top.
Locality: Huizache, San Luis Potosi, México.
This plant is capable of producing its off-white flowers when it is little larger than 1cm Ø.
In Edward F. Anderson's 1986 revision of the genus Neolloydia (Bradleya 4: 1-28, 1986.) he miss identified this taxon with T. schmiedickeanus ssp. andersonii.
The taxon lilinkeuiduus n.n. is referable here. This name is nothing more than a misspelling of klinkerianus which apparently originated from Arizona, USA and was distributed by various European nurseries. As the exact habitat origin of this plant is unknown, the designation I use for this plant is T. schmiedickeanus ssp. klinkerianus "lilinkeuiduus". If you know anything more about this name please let me know.
Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus ssp. klinkerianus forms an aggregate of taxa with the following:
