Latin: Corpus simplex, sub-globosum, basi napiforme; pars eius Ca. 60mm lata et 50mm longa, olivaceo-viridis pastern brunescens; tubercula irregulariter pyramidalis, quadrangularis, basi rhomboidea, usque Ca. 5mm longa et 4mm lata; spinae centrales usque 2, Ca. 25mm longae, una erecta et secunda horizontalis; spinae radiales 11-16, albae, rigidae, Ca. 10mm longae; flores infundibuliformes, autem latiores ad 24mm diametiens ostendit; perianthii phylla lanceolata, integerrima, acuta, atro-armeniaceo-lutea, stria media purpuracea ornata, marginibus dilutis; fructus urniformis, Ca. 12mm longus; semen nigrum, testa granulata, hilum ovato-discoideum, dilutum.

Body: sub-globose, tall, up to 60 mm and up to 50 mm wide. Tubercles: pyramidal, four-angled with rhomboidal base; 5 mm long and 4 mm wide at the base. Radial Spines: from 11 to 16, white, up to 10 mm long, rigid. Central Spines: generally 2, horizontal and 1 upright, with white base and black point, up to 25 mm long. Flower: wide and tall around 24 mm, of a yellow apricot colour. Epidermis: olive-green, when growing old darkens at the base of the body and becomes a light brown colour.

Habitat: Sierra de la Paila, Coahuila, México.

Notes

This taxa was previously known as Gymnocactus beguinii fa. "Sierra de la Paila" and G. beguinii "Canyon Verde" and G. beguinii sp. Lau 1035.
