Description of Turbinicarpus pseudomacrochele

Translated from the German
Long cylindrical tuberous root, body pale green, to 3 cm in diameter, with sharply defined, slightly conical tubercles. Areoles narrow, initially with plentiful white felt, later becoming bare. Spines, ca. 8, soft, initially yellowish, later grey, stiff bristle-like, curved towards the apex and intertwining. Flower ca. 3,5 cm Ø, petals white with pink mid-stripe, underside with darker mid-stripe. Fruit small, almost bare. Very similar to macrochele, however cylindrical and covered with bristle-like spine, also the flower is different.

Locality: various sites in Querétaro and Hidalgo, México.

Notes

When this taxa was first described, the name was misspelled as pseudomacrohele ie. without the second "c" as was macrochele. The locality was also wrongly reported as being San Luis Potosi
